CityView Church

Jason and Allison Crandall and Travis and Keri Duke felt a calling to plant a church in early 2013. That calling has manifested itself as CityView Church in Pearland, Texas. CityView Church is a a group of believers in West Pearland devoted to making Gospel-Centered Disciples of Jesus.  CityView Church started with a core group of 6 families in June of 2013 and has grown to more than 30 families through the past several months.  In our pre-launch phase we’ve seen people come to Christ and be baptized, new families link into the vision and mission of CityView, and God’s hand move in unmistakable ways.

There are 175,000 people in the West Pearland/South Houston area, more than 75% are unchurched.  The average Pearlandian spends about two hours a day in traffic; CityView aims to be a simple church, to minimize mid-week programming in order to emphasize the gospel in busy, hectic lives. West Pearland, 10 minutes from the booming Houston medical center, is primarily home to young families; CityView is keeping children’s ministry, overseen by Pastor Travis Duke, as one of their central focuses, at the very heart of how they’re organized.

And in the midst of a population growing ever larger, CityView is committed, foundationally, to being a church that plants churches, with emerging church planters Cary and Danielle Perrin already on staff.  The Perrins are serving with us in preparation to plant another church with a target launch date of September 2015. C. Peter Wagner said that “Church planting is the single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven”- an idea CityView believes to be true, and one they plan to live out.

The ideas and approach are, of course, incidental, a product of a calling. From their first vision gathering on June 30th, 2013, to their launch on February 9th, 2014 and beyond, CityView Church has kept the gospel as the focus, because the most important number, through all of this, has been the number one.

One savior. One God. One cross. One calling, exemplified in CityView’s core values- to love Jesus, live like Jesus, and lead others to Jesus. CityView’s heart is to help the people in our community clear out the fog, forget the numbers and distractions that busy up their lives- and in love, point their hearts to Jesus Christ.
