Church of the Highlands was founded in 1890 in downtown Chattanooga, and was named “Highland Park Baptist Church.” We escalated to 10,000 people in weekly attendance in the late ’60s, and had 70 locations as the first American multi-site church. Unfortunately, the church experienced decades of precipitous decline and a lack of contextualization to changing communities and cultures, and we dwindled to a few hundred people.
In January of 2013, we re-planted our church to a new location on a lake on the north side of town with a new name and philosophy of ministry. God is doing amazing things through our church family.
