THE BEGINNING

JOURNEY 1 – “Mapping Out the Trip”  (The Bible: History or HIS STORY?)

Key Passage: Psalm 119; Isaiah 40:8; 2 Timothy 3:16–17
Key Word: TRUTH
Key Thought: Make plans to study the unchanging truth of the Bible.
Key Verse: “With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”  —Psalm 119:10–11

JOURNEY 2 – “Destination Eden”  (Creation & the Garden of Eden)

Key Passage:  Genesis 1–2
Key Word:  POWER SOURCE
Key Thought:  Acknowledge God as the power source for all life.
Key Verse:  “… It is you who has made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”  —Jeremiah 32:17

JOURNEY 3 – “Sightseeing 101”  (God: Master Designer)

Key Passage:  Genesis 2; Psalm 104, 139:14–18
Key Word:  DESIGN
Key Thought:  Seek to know God’s design for your life.
Key Verse:  “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.  —Psalm 139:16

JOURNEY 4 – “Detour Ahead”  (The Fall of Man)

Key Passage:  Genesis 3
Key Word:  AUTHORITY
Key Thought:  Obey the authority figures God has placed in your life.
Key Verse:  “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” —1 Corinthians 15:22

JOURNEY 5 – “A Royal Cruise Ship”  (Noah Builds an Ark)

Key Passage:  Genesis 6–7
Key Word:  TRUST
Key Thought:  Trust God no matter what happens.
Key Verse:  “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and he will act.” —Psalm 37:5

JOURNEY 6 – “High Seas Adventure”  (The Flooded Earth Restored)

Key Passage:  Genesis 7–9
Key Word:  DO-OVERS
Key Thought:  Correct your mistakes and learn from them.
Key Verse:  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” —2 Corinthians 5:17

JOURNEY 7 – “A Tour of the Nations”  (The Tower of Babel & the Rise of Nations)

Key Passage:  Genesis 10–11
Key Word:  HONOR
Key Thought:  Demonstrate honor to God through obedience.
Key Verse:  “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”  —James 4:6

JOURNEY 8 – “On the Road w/ Job”  (Job: A Man of Great Patience)

Key Passage:  Job 1–2; 38–40; 42
Key Word:  PATIENCE
Key Thought:  Be willing to wait patiently for God’s blessing.
Key Verse:  “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”   —Romans 8:28

JOURNEY 9 – “Westward Ho!”  (God Calls Abraham)

Key Passage:  Genesis 12
Key Word:  SERVANT
Key Thought:  Serve others in the name of Christ.
Key Verse:  “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”  —Colossians 3:23–24

JOURNEY 10 – “Next Exit: Sodom & Gomorrah”  (Abraham Gives Lot a Choice)

Key Passage:  Genesis 13, 19
Key Word:  CHOICES
Key Thought:  Demonstrate your faith in Christ by making wise choices.
Key Verse:  “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”  —Luke 6:31

JOURNEY 11 – “Canaan’s Luxury Accommodations”  (Ishmael & Isaac)

Key Passage:  Genesis 14-15, 21
Key Word:  PROMISES
Key Thought:  Trust God to fulfill the promises in the Bible.
Key Verse:  “… it is impossible for God to lie.” —Hebrews 6:18 “The sum of your word is truth.” —Psalm 119:160 “… a God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He.”  —Deuteronomy 32:4

JOURNEY 12 – “Backpacking in the Mountains”  (Isaac: Son of Promise)

Key Passage:  Genesis 22:1–19
Key Word:  TESTING
Key Thought:  Demonstrate obedience to God when your faith is tested.
Key Verse:  “Count it all joy, my brother when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”   —James 1:2–3

JOURNEY 13 – “A Getaway Escape”  (Isaac & Rebekah and Jacob & Esau)

Key Passage:  Genesis 24-25, 27
Key Word:  FAMILY
Key Thought:  Treasure the family God has given you.
Key Verse:  “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” —Romans 12:17–18
